Betting sites in Nigeria
Six Nigerian bookmakers were read at source on 21 August 2026, in a browser that renders the page rather than a request that only fetches it. That mattered: bet9ja.com answered our desk with a 403 while web.bet9ja.com rendered in full, so a check on response codes alone would have got the biggest brand here wrong.
All three columns are readings of one thing: the block of small print at the bottom of the bookmaker's own site. The first repeats the place named on the top permit line, which on this board comes out as either the whole country or a single state. The second counts how many separate permit lines that block carries, and the spread across these rows runs from one to three, which is worth seeing before you read much into any single line. The third is the column that decides what the other two are worth, because some blocks put a body's name beside the number and some print a bare number with nobody attached to it. How we test
A brand enters this table when something about it can be checked: a published offer, a stated entry minimum, or a licence number attributed to the body that issued it. The columns hold what each operator says about itself in public, and the licence column comes first, because the six answers are not the same answer.
Since the Supreme Court ruling of 22 November 2024, Nigeria has no national gambling regulator. Betting is a residual matter for the states, licensed by bodies such as the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority and the FCTA Lottery Regulatory Office, and a licence from one state is not a licence in the rest. The six have not converged. MSport prints only its Lagos licence, LSLGA/OP/OSB/MS181223. SportyBet prints only the sentence that it is licensed by the National Lottery Regulatory Commission under License No 0001014, which is its own wording and describes the position before the ruling. Betway Nigeria prints a Lagos licence and a national permit number together, and names Digi Bay Limited. BetKing names SV Gaming Limited as the company behind the site and prints the pair 00000006/00000008, with no issuer beside either number. Bet9ja prints the pair 0001074/00000014 with no authority beside the numbers. 1xBet Nigeria calls itself a licensed betting company in Nigeria and, on the pages read, gives no number, no authority, no entity.
The withdrawal column is wording rather than timing, and the wordings clash. BetKing asks for up to 24 hours; Bet9ja writes that withdrawals are generally processed within five banking days; SportyBet writes that winnings go to the bank account immediately after confirmation; MSport claims instant payment up to NGN 9,999,999 per transaction. Four promises, not four measurements. On entry minimums, SportyBet, MSport and Bet9ja each state NGN 100, Betway states NGN 500 in its terms, and for BetKing and 1xBet we did not find a figure on the pages read.
Funding runs on the local rails: bank transfer over NIBSS, cards on the Verve scheme, USSD strings, and wallets including OPay and Moniepoint. Which operator supports which was not among the fields recorded on 21 August, so this table does not say.
